Share Your Thoughts on Western Rivers Conservancy

For over two decades, Western Rivers Conservancy has been working to protect the great rivers of the West by acquiring outstanding riverlands and placing them in the hands of long-term conservation stewards. WRC has established the highest standards and practices in the industry and serves as a model for land trusts across the West.

WRC has long been a member of the Land Trust Alliance (LTA) in support of its work to enhance the quality and permanence of conservation land acquisition. Some years ago, LTA established the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, which accredits those organizations that meet its national standards for protecting important natural places. WRC is now applying for accreditation to support LTA’s efforts to guide land trusts large and small in the business of conservation.

As a long-established practice, WRC monitors its projects to ensure our river conservation work is effective, meaningful and long lasting. We invite you to comment on how well we are implementing the standards used by the Commission so that your knowledge of WRC’s work informs our application. (The full list of standards can be found here)

To submit a comment, you may send an email to info@landtrustaccreditation.org, or send a letter to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, or fax a letter to 518-587-3183. Comments should be sent to the Commission by May 21, 2015.
