On March 3rd, Western Rivers Conservancy launched the first episode of its new web series, Great Rivers of the West. If you haven’t joined yet, there are still four episodes—and dozens of outstanding rivers—to go!

The eight-part series is fast-paced and thoroughly enriching, and it offers insights gathered over years of river research and exploration. Great Rivers of the West originally began as a report, which WRC commissioned river expert Tim Palmer to produce over a decade ago. This year, WRC called on Palmer again to update the report, and we wanted to share the information with river aficionados everywhere.

So far, we’ve covered Idaho, Montana, Oregon and California, and we’ll continue to work our way around the West. Tomorrow, on March 31st, we’ll visit Washington, where Tim will take us to great rivers like the Hoh, Skagit, Sauk, Columbia, White Salmon, Klickitat, Chewuch and Methow. After that, we’ll hit Colorado on April 7th. On April 14th we’ll visit the rivers of Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico; and on the April 21st we’ll conclude the series with the rivers of Utah and Wyoming!

Great Rivers of the West will air every Wednesday at 6pm, Pacific Time. Registration will stay open throughout the entire series, and viewers who tune in will get to virtually visit keystone rivers in each state or region, learning why these places matter for fish and wildlife and how to experience them independently.

Fishpond founder and CEO Johnny Le Coq, and WRC co-founder and President Sue Doroff, kick off each episode, and Sue and Tim answer viewer questions at the end.

As a bonus, everyone who registers for the Great Rivers of the West series will also be automatically entered to win high-end gear from Fishpond and Sawyer Paddles & Oars, two of the series’ sponsors. Each week, at the close of every episode, winners will be randomly selected and announced.
