It’s official. Swiftwater County Park is now owned by a conservation group.
In a special meeting Friday, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners signed over ownership of the park to the Western Rivers Conservancy. The park, which is near the head of the North Umpqua Trail, was sold for $1.4 million to the conservation group.
Western Rivers intends to turn around and sell the property to the Bureau of Land Management. The BLM already owns adjacent land along the North Umpqua Trail. BLM officials have said they want to maintain the site much as it has been so people can continue to enjoy the park and access to the trail.North Umpqua River
