Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, one of the founders of the modern-day craft brewing industry, has for years been an unwavering supporter of WRC and our efforts to save outstanding rivers across the West. This spring, the Chico, California-based brewer released River Ryed, a limited edition IPA brewed specially for WRC to support our work on the West’s most outstanding rivers, including Idaho’s Salmon River.
The Salmon is one of the country’s greatest rivers, flowing 425 miles from its headwaters in the Sawtooth Mountains, through the largest wilderness areas in the Lower 48, to the Snake River, which it joins at the bottom of the deepest canyon in North America. As for River Ryed, it’s a beer worth drinking as much as the Salmon’s worth floating. It’s a delicious hop-forward beer, brewed with four different hops (Chinook, Bravo, Citra and Equinox) and four malts—perfect to end a day on the river. Sierra Nevada released River Ryed in twelve-pack cans (to keep glass off the river) in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. Get some—it will help us save a river!
